Before Super Smash Bros. The game is so creative and different for a fighting game. Power Stone 2 has turned into a very rare item over the past decade. Gunbird 2 is a 2D scrolling shooter courtesy of Capcom and Psikyo that continues the franchise which previously had been released on the Sega Saturn. The title is quirky and fun, but its price has more to do with its scarcity than the quality.
For the longest time Gunbird 2's only physical release was on the Dreamcast, but it was recently ported over to the Switch. Cannon Spike is a fever dream of an action title from Capcom. A No, try looking at a review website for more detail about X game. Q What games would you say aren't any good?
Many of these games make me shudder the minute I hear their names! A Yes, the DC-X does allows you to force 60hz games into 50hz, but some NTSC titles have an instruction at the start of the program to jump back to 60hz mode, so can't be play at 50hz. The Sega Smash Pack is one such title. Ooga Booga does this if booted through the Xploder. Submitted by Lyris I find it slightly better than the DC-X for getting games to work.
Q Can you change the background of the Dreamcast's Bios? A Puyo Puyo Fever does allow you to change the Dreamcast's bios, however it was only released in Japan. Q Can you still use the Dreamcast to surf the internet? A Yes, but you need to use Dreamkey 3. Q Can I still play games online? Also most of the download extras have now gone as well which is a real pain. In a later release of this FAQ I will go into a lot more detail into this matter and hopefully list a few websites where the download extras can still be found online. Instead Sega of Europe decided to use their own unique design, so it's now very hard to find replacement boxes.
The European box is made up of 3 parts, the front case, the inner tray and the back case. Due to the way the case is designed you can open it in two ways, you can open the front case or the back of the case. The front case open's up to give you access to one side of the inner tray and the first CD holder. The back case open's up to give you access to the manual and the second CD holder. The front case, plug's itself into 2 small holes found on the inner tray and has four small clips, which hold the front cover in place.
The back case plug's into the inner tray, by the means of 2 small plastic plugs at the end of the case. The Front and back cases are make from a light see-through plastic, not sure what type of plastic.
The inner tray is made from a slight strong plastic and is coloured a deep blue. The final thing to mention is that the inner tray has a logo that said Dreamcast on its left side. Unlike the Sega Saturn the Dreamcast box has had no major changes to it nor did different companies make their own boxes as also happened with the Saturn. The earlier Sega Saturn boxes also had a fatal design fault that could result in the game CD becoming misshapen. There was only one small change and that was to do with the Dreamcast logo on the left side of the inner tray.
In early released Dreamcast games the logo was printed on to the case with Black Ink. In later released Dreamcast games the logo was engrave in to the inner tray, meaning that the logo was now plastic and was the same colour blue as the inner tray.
The only other change I know about is to do with the front cover of Dreamcast games and I will talk about that later. The boxes itself is more stronger than a normal CD case, but it's still likely to crack if dropped or hit with a hard enough force.
Cover design changes, early released Dreamcast games just had the name of the game and a picture for the front cover. However later titles also had the word Dreamcast in huge lettering and the swirl logo added on to the front cover of each game. The following games didn't have the Dreamcast logo on their front cover. Shenmue and Shenmue 2 both come with 2 manuals. Submitted by Olivier 7.

Sadly it lasted all of about 2 weeks until the Neo Geo Pocket Colour was released alongside 14 game titles. Sega shifted 63, DC's in the first week on sale in the UK, which was another record. The following games come with a full colour manual! The following games could be brought with a Dreamcast peripheral as part of a special package. House of the Dead 2, The Special pack with official Dreamcast light gun. Planet Ring Special pack with mircophone.
Samba De Amigo Special pack with official maracas and mat. Dreamcast design, need a little help with this one, as far as I am aware there were only two Dreamcast shells released in Europe. The first shell being the standard white Dreamcast shell. The second is the very rare Sonic shell design which was a competition prize. Clearly they were too lazy to add a selector. A number of Dreamcast games are still being released in Japan. All games are listed under their full name and in alphabetical order.
No games were released starting with X or Y. Contact information for me can be found at the top and bottom of this FAQ. Please note I have now confirmed the release of all the above games thanks to Arcturius DCArchive and his excellent Dreamcast website. All of them were released in the USA. Supposedly there is a white press release of 4x4 Evolution available. Some information would be helpful on this one.

However it also came free with Phantasy Star Online Version 2, due to this reason quite a few people ended up with more than one copy of the Dreamkey 3.
You may still be able to get a copy from Sega, if you get in contact with them. You need DreamKey Version 3. DreamKey Version 1. Both DreamKey Versions 2. It can also be used to play import games, released by Blaze in the UK. If you have the correct codes you can force some PAL games into 60hz, which didn't have this option originally with the Xploder, the DC-X also does the same but you don't need a code for each game.
These code where taken from the website www. I find the Xploder is much better for playing import games on than the DC-X. Blaze tried to cover up the fact that the Xploder does play import games. Dynamite Cop crashes if you force it into 60hz. There ended up being 30, of these Limited Edition units produced. Not especially rare, but they are not nearly as common as the standard Shenmue release. Up until the recent announcement of a Shenmue remaster on modern consoles, the original Shenmue was looking to remain a Dreamcast exclusive — one of the last Defining Dreamcast games that never made it to other hardware.
With the cult classic nature of the game and the exclusivity, all copies of Shenmue have seen a gradual rise in value over the last few years. Check for Shenmue Limited Edition on eBay. While it did not get the attention of Street Fighter 2 and the Alpha series, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is one of the best installments in the series, especially when it comes to finely-tuned tournament players.
Its combination of smooth animation, great characters, and a new parrying system keep fighting enthusiasts coming back for more. The first two copies of these games have been sold, both very quietly. That copy was confirmed to be missing the second phone card and sticker. After the Dreamcast was already buried by US retailers and the last big name import releases like Shenmue II, Rez, and Ikaruga had been released, a small developer by the name of G.
The production of this Limited Edition of Border Down was halted at 5, copies. Initially, it has the same print run as the standard edition, but the original has since been reprinted at least once, at least doubling its availability and the premium placed on the Limited Edition. The novelty of the release seems to have cooled down a bit in the last decade, however despite never being released on another platform. The Dreamcast already had one of the best 2D fighting game lineups among consoles , but it is hard to be complete without a solid port of an installment of Street Fighter II.
Super Street Fighter 2X is possibly the best console version of the game that started the 2D fighter revolution. Every sprite is perfect. Every frame of animation is there. And the gameplay is as good as it gets. In fact, the later HD remixes of the games were based on this Dreamcast version. This gem has nearly doubled in value since At the time, it was considered mostly a collectors item with many modern ports being great options for SSF2T fans, but the recent increase only solidifies this recommendation.
It was fairly common in the North American dreamcast library, but it quite the rarity in PAL regions. As you can expect, RPGs take extra time to work on localization. By then, Sega had already announced that they were giving up on Dreamcast production. Evolution never did sell well enough to see additional runs. Check for Evolution 2 on eBay. This odd combat action game with racing elements from Lost Toys and Take 2 Interactive is known as the only Dreamcast game to be exclusive to the United Kingdom.
Even though it was approved by German and French entities and the back cover copy was translated into German , the game was never sold in retail in those countries. Check for Moho on eBay. This racing game modeled after a French film is known for being the only Dreamcast game exclusive to France. The game itself is rather it notoriously bad for a racing game, but many PAL Dreamcast collectors typically are still on the hunt for this rarity.
Check for Taxi 2 on eBay. I have Project Justice, my rarest game. I have some pics of the Space Channel 5 boxset here , along with a lot of other Space Channel 5 stuff.
Very nice! Thanks for sharing! And thanks everyone for sharing additional titles and prices. Not sure which one though? Just in case anyone was wondering what the scores where back in the day, here they are:. Sorry to rez the dead but I happened to find a pristine but opened copy of Ikaruga and Bangai-O for five bucks at a store today.
I asked how much they were and they said all Dreamcast games were 4. I see MM quite frequently around here in pawn shops, and have even spotted it in goodwill a couple years back. The Sega Dreamcast was incredibly innovative and helped usher in a new generation of gaming as well as being the home for some incredible titles. Treasure is a legendary developer that's put together a lot of memorable and unique titles. Bangai-O is a chaotic multi-directional shooter that's an absolute onslaught and a real challenge even for shooter veterans.
The title is significant because it was the only English version of the game for some time before it began to be ported over to consoles in more recent years. A pairing between Capcom and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure seems like a match made in heaven and the Dreamcast fighter is an absolute delight and actually contains two titles.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is enjoyable for both fans of the anime series and 2D fighters. The title has seen an HD remaster on online services, but the Dreamcast title is the only physical console version.
