Depending on your version of citrix. You can open the citrix print manager service and get the service file name. I've often done the same, but my batch file would also empty the spool directory of stuck jobs as well since often times they cannot be removed any other way.
I know what the OP is getting at because I've had the same issues with Citrix for almost two freakin decades and came to the same conclusions, t hen found scripted service restarts are a bad idea. Automated spooler restarts do not solve the problem.
Also, increasingly driver issues are system related with windows and just restarting the print spooler regularly doesn't help the issue. What can happen and eventually will happen is your spooler will hang forcing you to reboot the platform. If you restart the spooler automatically at night you won't be there to see the problem, and angry users will start logging in the morning. IMO, and I strongly suggest is find the root cause of the problem because restarting the spooler service is just a minor symptom.
Same with the Citrix services. In the short term it will fix the problem I've noticed that the installers for printer drivers sometimes make some serious mistakes, which requires the Print Management tool printmanagement. CreateITivity is an IT service provider. Were working on trying to figure out what is the root cause Thank you for posting this. Not anymore. My printer stopped working in January — and anytime I needed to print something I had to drive to the UPS store… but Print Flush worked — this sounds like a cheezy commercial but thanks.
Introducing my lean-and-mean print spooler cleaner! Print Flush has a simple function: clean the print spool. I am in college, and so I work for tips. Please support me and what I do. This utility is basically a simple batch file that takes all the steps necessary to un-jam a printer queue and more.
Go get it here. Great Tool!!!. After many hours of troubleshooting this one is the perfect solution. I am truly grateful to the author for providing the solution to printing problem….. Thank you and thank you again, I really need this software because the printer spooler and sometime driver problem is very annoying, I hope this program will help me alot. It took all of about 30 seconds for download and run to fix the spooler error I have been trying to solve for the past two weeks. I was about to buy a new printer cable to see if that would solve my problem.
It was like I turned into a techno geek! Thanks for a great product, fix, patch or whatever you call it. This little utility has been very handy when my printer has run out of control. Thank you. Will you be updating it for Windows 10? Access is denied. However, if I open the Services Local screen, I have permission to right click on the Spooler and manually command it to Stop or Restart.
